Find out more about the Riverdale house I visited this week.
As an architect I can easily imagine 4907 Sheridan Street in Riverdale, Maryland with crisp, new siding and a sweet front porch just like the design inspiration above. Read more below to find out why I think this is a diamond in the rough.
When I saw this three bedroom house appear on the market for $245,000 I had to go check it out. I love this part of Riverdale because of its tree-lined streets and houses with deep porches. It once was very cut off from the activity along Route One but thanks to the recently opened bridge over the railroad track, this neighborhood is an easy walk or bike ride to the shopping and dining at Riverdale Park Station.
“I'm going to keep an eye on this one. My guess is that someone will fix it up and put it back on the market next spring. A nicely renovated house like this could sell for around $350,000.”
From the photo you can tell that the front porch has been enclosed. I think that this house would look adorable with a sweet, open front porch like the one in the design inspiration image. You enter through the living room with a dining room to the right and a kitchen off the dining room. There is a room off the back, with a bathroom, that is the main floor bedroom. There are two other bedrooms that share a bathroom upstairs. The basement is unfinished but the ceilings are tall enough to comfortably access the washer and dryer.
Price dropped to $237,000.
