The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Some places don’t feel good.

That place was the office that my husband and I share. It is the first floor bedroom of our Cape-Cod style house. It was so full of junk and clutter that it felt like working in a storage unit.

My husband found a book that was lost in the jumble of books on the shelves. He is writing an article this week based on that book.

Before…sort of…I didn’t really take a photo until I had started the project. But you get the idea.

A lot of people hate Marie Kondo’s bestselling 20__ book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Most people who hate this book haven’t read it. They know a few things from it like asking if something in your house sparks joy and folding your socks.

The book is well worth a read. Mostly because it is actually a deeply strange book. At least for me, as an American. It is actually a very estoteric book that deals with the soul of inanimate objects.

I have seen enough homes in distress to believe in the animating spirit of these, supposedly, inanimate objects.
